Welcome to Grade One and Two!

I'm so happy to have all of you as a part of my class this year. I know we're going to have a great year!

Parents and Guardians,

Your kids and I will be posting on this blog throughout the year to let you know whats going on in our classroom and to give you updates of what's happening in the school. You can subscribe to this site and receive emails every time we post something. You can also use the translation app to translate information into another language.

Forms
If you haven't done so already please send in all forms.  Snack program is beginning next week so if you want your child receiving snack we need your consent.

Shoes
Please ensure your child has a pair of indoor and outdoor shoes.

Food
If you would like to celebrate your child's birthday with the class we would encourage loot bags instead of baked goods or food. We have a number of students in our school with serious allergies and we want to keep them safe. Also, please remind your child not to share share snack or lunches with friends and classmates.

Homework
September 17th students will receive homework sheets for the week. The homework is simple and should take about five minutes to complete and students have the choice to complete it all at the beginning of the week or daily. When students complete their homework their group earns free time minutes that they can bank and use on Fridays.

I will also send home book bags with a book at their reading level. We encourage students to read every night. When your child has completed their book they can send it back and receive a new book.

My email is Karsten.jaynes@tdsb.on.ca, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
