Structures and Simple Machines
Our Grade 3 group has been working on creating a structure that is as tall as the chair seat, can stand up against the fan and can hold a container full of blocks. Here are some of their creations.
Our Grade 2 group is learning about simple machines. They are learning about inclined planes though creating a marble works.

Our Program
As you may have noticed students in our class will be posting during the year on our blog. They will share what we are doing in class and remind you of upcoming events.
Here are some of the areas of study our class is learning about right now!
Summarizing
In our language program we are learning about how to summarize and how to write a good paragraph. We are working on making our paragraphs flow smoothly and well as sharing the right amount of details.
According to Nelson Literacy here are some tips for Summarizing!
- Read the whole text first.
-Identify the main idea of the text.
-Do not tell all the details.
-Think about how the text is organized and picture the organization in your head.
-Take notes or use a visual organizer to help you organize the information.
Patterning
In Math we are studying patterning. We are discussing what kinds of attributes a pattern has. We have created patterns and talked about how each pattern has a rule. Most of all, we have connected patterning to number sense. We have looked for patterns on the hundreds board and talked about how all patterns are numerical patterns.

Communication: We will use the agendas as a form of communication so please check it daily. Please feel free to come by to talk or give me a call if you want to discuss. The blog will be another way to keep up with what is going on in our classroom.
