Holiday Fair

Here are some pictures from the Grade Two Holiday Fair. The Grade Two student present their holiday, made treats and taught the Grade 1and 3 students about their holiday.

Black Creek Pioneer Village

We had a great time at Black Creek Pioneer Village. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped out on our past three trips. You were so supportive and I really appreciate your flexibility and patience. I hope everyone has a great holiday season!

Christmas Market

Today we had our Grade 3 Christmas Market and similar to the Christmas Market in the Distillery District. We had different stalls set up. The grade threes made a plan for what to make and they researched the cost and made it. Many decided to cook or bake. The grade 4/5s came a purchased ( with fake money) some of their goods.

Forest Valley

Today was the Christmas market we had lots of fun and tomorrow is the trip i am very excited. By Daphne

Today we had a field trip to forest valley with the grade 1's and it was so fun.we had lots of fun activities.we have our Christmas market next Tuesday and holiday fair next Thursday.By Christy and Catherine .

Identify geometric properties of two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes (faces, edges and vertices)

Describe and identify, compare and sort polygons

Create polygons using other polygons ( two triangles make a square)

Discuss geometric shapes in the world around us and explain why that shape. Benefits it's purpose ( wheels are cylinders because they need to roll)

Grade 3 

Explain the difference between polyhedra and on polyhedra and compare

Explain and compare prisms and pyramids

Identify a right angle and compare angles that are bigger and smaller to a right angle

Terms to know: parallelogram, trapezoid, quadrilateral rhombus, right angle, prism, pyramid, polygon

Measurement Review

Both The Grade 2 Test will have some multi step problems and some multiple choice problems Time -recognize and represent time from half hour and quarter hour -is able to understand the relationship between days, weeks and years Temperature -understands how weather affects everyday choices Linear Measurement -       able to estimate and measure distance, height and length using standard units like ( cm, m,) and non standard such as blocks -Is able to measure and record Perimeter -Is able to measure and record Area Capacity/ Mass Is able to estimate, measure and record capacity and mass with non standard units

Grade 3 The Grade 3 Test will have many multi step problems and some multiple choice problems. Time -problem solving the duration between two set times -recognize and represent time to the closest 5 minute Temperature -       estimates and identifies benchmarks for cold, warm, hot weather -       recognize degrees on a thermometer Linear Measurement -       estimates and measures km Capacity / Mass -Is able to estimate, measure and record capacity and mass with standard units such as mg, g, kg and ml, l and kl.
