Geometry Unit Review  

Grade 2 
Vocabulary
-symmetry
-horizontal, vertical, diagonal
-congruent shapes
-polygons, triangles, quadrilateral, pentagon, hexagon,
-vertices, edges, faces
-sphere, cylinder, cone

Two Dimensional Shapes
-use two dimensional shapes to create a picture
-cover an outline puzzle with two dimensional shapes
-discuss two dimensional shapes and patterns and their attributes
-compare polygons, triangles, quadrilateral, pentagon, hexagon, and use manipulatives and pictures to represent

Three Dimensional Shapes
-review prisms and pyramids, compare by various attributes, identify by base of pyramid or prism
-identify the two dimensional faces in three dimensional shapes
-identify 3D shapes and their attributes

Grade Three (You must know all the Grade 2 information as well)
- right angles, which angles are more or less than a right angle, uses benchmark (book has a right angle)

Any parents or grandparents who are willing to volunteer to help prepare snacks in the morning please speak to the office. Multiplication, Division and Fractions Test Review
Grade 2
-          Fractions are connected to various aspects of our lives such as time, music, measuring for cooking etc.
Fractions with Manipulatives
-Comparing fractions ( ½ is bigger than ¼)
-Regrouping fractions into whole fractions (9/4 makes 2 and 1/4)
-Problem Solving with Fractions ( If Austin has ¾ and Haru has 2/4 than Austin has ¼ more than Haru)
Multiplication
-represents and explains basic multiplication through arrays, groups, skip counting, repeated addition and number lines
Division
-represents and explains basic division (equal grouping) through arrays, grouping, skip counting, repeated subtraction and number lines
Understand the relationship between multiplication and division

Grade 3 Students are expected to know the same information as Grade 2 students with a higher expectation of problem solving. They are also expected to know:
-          Fractions, using terms such as halves, quarters, eighths etc.

-          Mental multiplication up to 7 times 7 and division up to 49 divided by 7

Grade 3 Forces Test Review

1.Understand what each of these forces is and how it works:

Muscular Force, Buoyancy, Air resistance, Gravity, Magnetism, Friction, Electro static Force

2.How these forces push ( repel) or pull ( attract)

3.How these forces impact nature and our lives ( gravity caused ice on tree branches to make the branches fall)

4.How forces can make objects speed up, slow down and change direction

5.Inertia –objects that are moving will keep moving until a force acts on it, object wont move unless a force acts on it

As a part of our Data Management unit our class created infographics.  Each student had to create a product, club or awareness campaign. They had to research their topic and use data from a sample group to create a product or club that would target their audience.
